How Sweet It Is To Be Called Mommy

Reesey woke me up early today to tell me she wants to watch Barbie Thumbelina. I put it on and went back to sleep. I heard her giggling beside me but since I'm really sleepy, I didn't bother to look at her and instead concenctrated on my sleep.

An hour or so after, she was shouting at the top of her lungs, "Mommy, mommy! Barbie, mommy!" while shaking me non-stop until I finally woke up. She wanted me to play it again.

I knew that I will not be able to go back to sleep anymore so I watched along with her. I discovered which part of the movie tickled her so much and I giggled along with her. I watched her watch intently as Thumbelina and her friends grew plants and completed Makena's green house. She's a picture of perfection, of bliss.

We got off of bed, had breakfast and bathed together.

"Mommy, mommy, bubbles!" She was excited as always as she squeezed her hands together trying to make tiny bubbles.

We went to mass with my father and the rest of the family, as we have always done on Sundays. After mass, while I chatted with cousins, Reesey surprised all of us when she noisily ran towards the center aisle, cheerfully giggling while trying to playfully 'sneak' away. When she realized that we noticed, she laughed and yelled, "Mommy!"

We decided to drop by the mall after mass and stroll for a while. She saw a Dora, The Explorer DVD and said, "Mommy, mommy, Dora!"

After lunch, I asked my brother to accompany me and look after Reese while I have my hair cut done. While I drive, she was not in a good mood and wanted to be on my lap and embrace me. She began crying, "Mommy, mommy, mommy!" and did not stop until I stopped the car and took her in my arms for a while before heading off again. It was pretty much the same scene on our way back home.

She was really sleepy so I thought she would sleep as soon as we got home. But she was recharged and went on playng the whole afternoon while, every so often, calling out to me to show something, "Mommy, mommy, look!"

Finally, at night time, I bathed her and gave her a full body massage with my reliable bedtime baby oil. She got sleepy and asked, "Mommy, milk." I got her her milk and laid down beside her as she slowly drifted off to dreamland...

Alas! another tiring mommy day has come to an end. But no matter how tiring it gets to be sometimes, there's no greater joy that to be called 'Mommy'.
